On November 28, 2017, Mama na Mtoto proudly handed over the keys of a new Toyota Land Cruiser Hardtop Ambulance to Mbarika Health Centre in Misungwi District. Presented to the Misungwi District Council in a celebration ceremony, this is the health facility’s very first ambulance.
Previously, this very remote health facility relied on an ambulance located 50 km away to conduct emergency transport referrals, resulting in death and poor outcomes among pregnant women and babies. This was particularly challenging during the rainy season when roads were difficult to navigate.
Now equipped with a new ambulance, Mbarika Health Centre is better placed to help women and babies access the timely emergency care that they need.
